St. Joe's leading scorer Carl Jones suspended for 3 games

Posted: November 09, 2012

St. Joseph's announced that senior point guard Carl Jones will not participate in the first three games, due to violation of the university's community standards.

The suspension began with Thursday's exhibition game against Wheeling Jesuit. That means Jones will also miss Monday's home game against Yale and the opening of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Friday Nov. 16 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn against Notre Dame.

Jones would be eligible to return the next night for either the championship or consolation game of the tournament. Florida State and BYU will play in the first round game.

The university had no further comment on Jones status.

Last season Jones led the Hawks in scoring, averaging 17 points per game.

Sophomore Chris Wilson is the backup point guard for the Hawks, who were the preseason pick to win the Atlantic-10 title.
