Posted: November 13, 2012

The Drexel men's soccer team will be making its first NCAA tournament appearance since 1972 when the Colonial Athletic Association champion Dragons (12-3-3) host No. 11 Brown (12-3-3) in a first-round game at Vidas Field at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Dragons have never played the Bears, who finished third in the Ivy League.

Football. Delaware Valley College (7-3) has been selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships and will travel to Muhlenberg (8-2) for the South Atlantic Bowl on Saturday. Kickoff at Scotty Wood Stadium in Allentown is scheduled for noon.

Basketball. Major Canady, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound combo guard, committed to Drexel over the weekend.

Canady averaged 12 points last season for the Kiski School, near Pittsburgh. He had been courted by Wake Forest, South Florida, and Stanford.

Honors. Rowan University cross-country runners Danielle Czohla, Meghan Borz, Jon Sewnig, and Mike Carotenuto received all-region honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association based on their results at the Atlantic Regional.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference named Lock Haven men's soccer forward Andrew Dukes (Downingtown East) to the all-PSAC first team. Marauders teammate Matt Kadoch (Strath Haven), also a forward, was named to the second team.
