3 Union players to train in Europe

Posted: November 20, 2012

THREE UNION players - forward Freddy Adu, midfielder Michael Farfan and defender Amobi Okugo - will hone their skills in the offseason with Galatasaray in Turkey and SC Freiberg, of the German Bundesliga, the club announced.

Adu will have a 2-week training stint with Galatasaray, while Farfan and Okugo will travel to Germany to train with Freiberg.

This marks the second straight season that those three have trained with European clubs in the offseason. Adu spent 2 weeks with Spanish side Rayo Vallecano last season; Farfan traveled to Sunderland last January; and Okugo spent time with Freiberg last December.

The three are the latest Union players to travel to Europe for offseason training. Zac MacMath spent time with Everton; Cristhian Hernandez was with Real Sociedad; and Jimmy McLaughlin is with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
