Flyers Claude Giroux to have his neck examined

Posted: November 21, 2012

Flyers center Claude Giroux, one of the NHL's best players, is leaving Germany this week to have his neck injury examined by a specialist in Atlanta.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Giroux was retuning for "evaluation and as a precaution. He has a neck injury that has been diagnosed as minor."

Still, it has to be disconcerting that there is a chance the injury is more severe than feared and that a concussion is possible.

Eisbaren Berlin, Giroux's team during the lockout, said the tests were precautionary so he didn't suffer a more serious injury in the future.

Giroux had a test taken after he was hit last week, and it was inconclusive. The team said he continued to have problems, prompting more tests.
