Flopping fine

Brooklyn Nets forward Reggie Evans is the first player to be fined by the NBA for flopping, penalized $5,000 for a second offense. He was punished after exaggerating light contact from the Lakers' Metta World Peace on Tuesday night. Evans had received a warning for going down with little or no contact while battling for a rebound against Boston on Nov. 15.

The Celtics waived center Darko Milicic, ending the No. 2 pick in the 2003 draft's brief stay with the team. General manager Danny Ainge said Milicic had asked for his release to deal with a personal matter.

Murphy ailing

Dallas forward Troy Murphy made his first start in 11 games since joining the Mavericks and played nearly 18 minutes, but didn't return after halftime because of an upper- respiratory illness.
