THE 93RD ANNUAL Thanksgiving Day Parade kicked off the holiday season Thursday amid unseasonably warm weather in Philadelphia.

With the Cookie Monster, Elmo, Scooby Doo, the Lorax and others floating above it, the parade started at 9 a.m. at 20th Street and JFK Boulevard and ended up at the Art Museum.

Justin Guarini of "American Idol" and Frenchie Davis from "The Voice" performed, and Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard and Miss America 2012 Laura Kaeppeler, of Wisconsin, were special guests.

Organizers say Philly's parade - which went on despite world wars, the Great Depression and the Eagles' 1-10 season in 1940 - is the oldest of its kind in the nation.
