East Mount Airy man robbed in home invasion

A 72-year-old man in East Mount Airy was attacked and robbed in his home Friday evening in which police said he was bound and gagged by three masked men.

The man was alone at his home on the 2400 block of 76th avenue when three men broke into his bedroom around 11:00 p.m. With bandanas over their faces and gloves to conceal their identities, the men forced the man to the floor, according to Officer Christine O'Brien, a spokeswoman for the Philadelphia Police Department.

The men then tied the man's hands and feet, gagged his mouth, and went through his pockets to steal his wallet, cash, and car keys.

The attackers took the man's car, a gray 2005 Toyota Corolla, with them when they left. Police initially reported the car as a green 2005 Toyota Camry. The attackers are described as three black males, approximately 20 years of age.
