I-95 crash in Bucks said to have killed two

Two people were believed to have been killed in an accident that also critically injured several others when a car overturned on Interstate 95 in Bucks County, tying up traffic for several hours Saturday night.

Unconfirmed reports said two people were killed and at least four others were taken to Philadelphia hospitals.

State police had not released information late Saturday night and would not confirm details.

The accident happened about 6:30 p.m. Saturday on I-95 near the Street Road exit. The northbound lanes were immediately shut down, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesman Eugene Blaum said, and they remained closed at 10 p.m.

The southbound lanes were closed briefly, then reopened.

Holiday traffic was backed up for several miles.

After a separate multi-vehicle accident, the highway's southbound lanes were shut down at 9:45 p.m.

That accident happened near the Woodhaven Road exit just south of Street Road, Blaum said, meaning both directions of I-95 were closed in that area.
