Longtime Burlington County Municipal Court Judge Alfred A. Faxon III, 70, of Moorestown, died of a heart attack at home Friday, Nov. 30.

Judge Faxon served as a jurist for more than 20 years, beginning with an appointment in Edgewater Park. His service included time as a Municipal Court judge in various towns, including Beverly, Hainesport, Lumberton, Medford, and Palmyra.

His career began with a clerkship under Assignment Judge Edward Martino of the New Jersey Superior Court. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve Judge Advocate General's Corps. He became a partner at the Hartman, Schlesinger, Schlosser & Faxon law firm before opening a solo practice.

Known as a loving father and husband, Judge Faxon enjoyed reading about American history and discussing contemporary and historical politics. He was a pilot when he was younger, and relatives said he was a devout member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Moorestown.

Born in Moorestown, Judge Faxon graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., in 1963 and earned his law degree in 1966 from Rutgers-Camden.

He was a Paul Harris Fellow in the Rotary Club of Beverly for several years, and was Rotarian of the Year in 1996-97.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta; sons Austin Faxon, Colin Faxon, and Jon Landi; daughter Jessica Drechsler; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by two former wives, Joy McGann Faxon and Susan Worthing.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the Lewis Funeral Home, 78 E. Main St., Moorestown. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 207 W. Main St., Moorestown.
