No word yet on wether Winslet will change her name but we encourage her to at least hyphenate. Winslet-Rocknroll has a nice ring to it.
But who cares about wedding details when we just learned that someone was ridiculous enough to change his last name to Rocknroll? Here's a catch-up: Rocknroll, of the London Rocknrolls, is the nephew of mega-billionaire Richard Branson. He is an executive of Virgin Galactic, a company whose mission is to send rich people into space, where his official title is "Head of Marketing Promotion and Astronaut Experience," which we think translates to "not a real job."
Rocknroll, of course, was not the name his mama gave him. He was born Ned Abel Smith and changed his name officially in '08 because he thought it was funny. "He thought we all took ourselves too seriously so it was about reacting against it," Rocknroll's ex-wife Eliza Pearson told the Daily Mail after their 2011 divorce.
Our real question: Why keep the first name? If he already committed to changing his last name, why not go full-on crazy and change the Ned, as well.
Philly rap battle
Two Philly rappers are closing out 2012 by cooking up beef.
The Meek Mill and Cassidy bad blood that began publicly when the rappers traded barbs via Twitter this summer has resulted in separate diss tracks from the former collaborators.
Cassidy fired first with "The Diary of a Hustla" back in November, but Mill didn't respond, unless you count taking to Instagram to blast Cassidy's "Gangnam Style" remix, "Condom Style," writing that it is "the worst song in the history of rapping."
(For the record: We heartily endorse "Condom Style" for its safe-sex message, but must admit, it's mad silly.)
Cassidy followed up last weekend with "Me, Myself and iPhone," calling Meek out for reportedly backing out of a rap battle. Mill responded in verse to Cassidy's barbs on Wednesday with his own track, "Repo," including lines like: "I did 'I'ma Boss,' youngin' set the summer off/ Now these old n----- mad at me 'cause they fallin' off."
C'mon, dudes, a new year is upon us! We say bury the hatchet and become buddies in 2013.
* Does Tom Cruise have a new lady love? The New York Post says the "Jack Reacher" star was out with 26-year-old Cynthia Jorge. Sources close to Cruise are saying the pair are just friends, but the Hollywood Rule goes if that a male and female are within a five-mile radius of one another, the chance is they're probably in love.
* TorrentFreak reports HBO's fantasy epic "Game of Thrones" was a favorite among criminals, becoming the most illegally downloaded show of 2012. The second-season finale was reportedly pirated 4,280,000 times. That's just about as many people who turned in to the initial airing back in the spring (although, that number grew with DVR and on-demand viewings). Rounding out the top five were episodes of "Dexter," "The Big Bang Theory," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Breaking Bad." Many illegal downloaders come from outside the U.S., TorrentFreak reports, because our viewing schedule is ahead of the rest of the world.
