TRENTON - The City Council is making another attempt to cut the salary of the city's embattled mayor.
Council President Phyllis Holly-Ward is submitting a measure that would reduce Tony Mack's salary from $126,460 to $65,000. In December, Mack was indicted on corruption charges.
Mack has pleaded not guilty to six criminal counts related to what prosecutors say was a scheme to accept $119,000 in bribes in exchange for using his influence over the development of a parking garage on city-owned land. He has vowed to remain in office.
An earlier attempt by the council to reduce Mack's salary by 50 percent failed to gain the votes needed to override Mack's veto. - AP
