Brooklyn Nets basketball player Andray Blatche was questioned by Philadelphia police in connection with an alleged rape early Tuesday at the Four Seasons hotel in Center City, but was released with no charges filed against him, police said.

The investigation is still under way, but preliminary findings indicate that Blatche, 26, was not involved, Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey said Tuesday.

Blatche may have been in or near the room at the time of the alleged assault, Ramsey said. Several witnesses are being interviewed by police, as well as the woman. No charges have been filed.

After the 21-year-old woman told police she was sexually assaulted around 3:30, she was taken from the hotel at 18th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to a hospital. Investigators were seen Tuesday removing bags of evidence from the hotel.

As rumors of the reported assault spread, Blatche posted on Twitter, "Im ok and I didn't do anything jus was n the area when it happened." The tweet was deleted about an hour later.

The Nets were in Philadelphia to play the 76ers Tuesday night. Brooklyn coach P.J. Carlesimo would not comment on the matter before the game.

Ramsey said the alleged assault took place in a suite in which three women and three men, including Blatche - a 6-foot-11, 260-pound power forward - were present.

The relationship between Blatche and the others was unclear, but they are not associated with the team.

Nets general manager Billy King said in a statement, "We are aware of the ongoing police investigation regarding a member of the Brooklyn Nets. We will have no further comment until the investigation has concluded. All of our players are available for tonight's game."
