Camden sees first murder of 2013

Posted: January 14, 2013

A 46-year-old Camden man was stabbed to death on a city street Sunday afternoon, becoming the city's first homicide victim of 2013 after a record number of killings last year.

The stabbing occurred around 2:30 p.m. on the 500 block of State Street, Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk and Camden Police Chief Scott Thomson said. The victim, whose name they withheld until his family could be notified, died at Cooper Hospital shortly before 3 p.m.

There were no arrests in the case, and a spokesman for the prosecutor's office declined to say if investigators had talked to witnesses.

Camden recorded 67 homicides in 2012, its deadliest year ever.
