Hamels' charity store
Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels and wife Heidi have expanded their Hamels Foundation to include a retail store. The new space at 880 W. Lancaster Ave. will also serve as the foundation's office. It will offer memorabilia autographed by Cole Hamels and Phillies teammates, clothing, jewelry and other items to raise money for the foundation, which aids schools in Africa and in inner-city neighborhoods in the U.S.

Eagles lineman
Todd Herremans recently dropped off cases of hot chocolate, coffee and energy drinks to first-responders in Seaside Heights, N.J., who helped out during Superstorm Sandy.
Herremans also toured the boardwalk and beach areas that were devastated by the storm.
His charitable foundation is planning events and fund-raisers to help rebuild the affected areas.
Bath-salt horror film
"Bath Salt Zombies" director Clint Weiler is dedicated to his low-budget horror movie but made the wise decision not to smoke bath salts for research purposes while writing the script.
Not that he didn't think about it. Weiler says a friend persuaded him not to try the substance tied to a few cannibal-style assaults last year. Weiler wrote and produced the film, directed by Dustin Wayde Mills. It screens Feb. 6 at the Balcony Bar at the Trocadero (1003 Arch) and will be out on DVD through Pottstown's MVD Entertainment on Feb. 19.
