After building a 24-point lead in the second half, Temple had to hold off a furious Penn rally before putting away the Quakers, 59-51, Wednesday night at the Palestra.
The win improved the Owls' record to 8-10, 1-1 in the Big 5, while Penn finished the city series at 1-3. Victoria Macaulay led three Owls in double figures with 15 points, nearly making it a double-double with a game-high nine rebounds.
Providence 65, Villanova 60 - The Friars (6-12, 1-4 Big East) outscored the visiting Wildcats, 14-9, in overtime for their first conference win. Villanova fell to 15-3, 4-1.
