Damon and friends live!

Jimmy Kimmel got the gag.

After years of insults and rejection, Matt Damon turned the tables Thursday night on his tormentor.

He trussed up the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and assumed control of the show. Man, what an improvement that was!

First, he made a few staff changes.

Out with Kimmel sidekick Guillermo and in with Andy Garcia. Out with bandleader Cleto and in with Sheryl Crow.

Damon acknowledged the sole flaw in his game: He's not a stand-up comedian. So with Siri's help, he brought someone to do the monologue for him: Robin Williams.

Love the way Crow played Williams on with the Mork & Mindy theme song.

Ah, but it was the guests that made Damon's night so special. Yes, he had Nicole Kidman, Gary Oldman, and Amy Adams on the couch. But he also had a remarkable number of stars just wander in, including Reese Witherspoon, Demi Moore, and Kimmel's ex-girlfriend Sarah Silverman.

And if they couldn't make it to the theater, show biz heavy hitters taped best wishes for Kimmel: Jennifer Lopez, Sally Field, John Krasinski, Robert De Niro ("Awesome job, awesome. You are as great as Jimmy Kimmel wasn't."), Don Cheadle, Oprah Winfrey, and, worst of all, Kimmel's parents, who replaced their son's picture with Damon's. "You know, Matt, you're the son we always wanted," Mom said. "Welcome to the family," said Dad.

Oh, Jimmy, you got served.
