"I apologize for trying to make it seem like it was not me. Due to my bad judgment and frustration, I allowed a very personal matter to be played out on a social network, of all things. It was immature and unprofessional for me to do so and to encourage others to join in," McCoy said.
During the argument with the mother of his 9-month-old son, McCoy encouraged his followers to harass her online after she described him as a deadbeat dad who has herpes and recently performed oral sex on her to avoid child-support payments. McCoy tweeted that she was a fraud who was trying to boost her fame at his expense.
In his statement Monday, McCoy said: "I take great pride in being a good father and strive to one day be a great one. I've always done everything in my means to provide for my son financially, emotionally, and most importantly with my time and heart."
Will, Souljah get real
Overbrook superstar Will Smith hosts a discussion about love and relationships called "Real Talk" with author Sister Souljah on Saturday afternoon at the Temple Performing Arts Center (1837 N. Broad).
The event, sponsored by the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation, deals largely with Souljah's newest novel, A Deeper Love Inside: The Porsche Santiaga Story.
WDAS' Patty Jackson and WRNB's Lady B will emcee the sold-out event. Souljah and Smith are longtime friends.
Jackman loves Union
Hugh Jackman wore a Union jersey during rehearsals for Saturday's Academy Ball concert and used one during the show to wipe the brow of Philadelphia Orchestra music director Yannick Nezet-Seguin. Jackman, as we mentioned recently, is a friend of Union chairman Jay Sugarman and GM Nick Sakiewicz. Neither could attend the ball.
After hosting and performing at the Academy Ball, Jackman hightailed it back to Los Angeles to help represent "Les Miserables" at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards.
