Quick work, friends! . . . if true. We speak of Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Thomas. Fresh, not to say still soppin' wet, from their June wedding, the widely-spaced (he 54, she 28) couple are bombarded by frantic reports that they are fecundated. Simmering the mac 'n' cheese on medium low. Progress! Alec, whom we will not call A-Bald, lost a ton of weight for the nuptials (or was it for those Capital One commercials with all those Viking dudes?) and has a 17-year-old daughter, Ireland, by former genetic-information donor Kim Basinger. Ireland is gorgeous. Meantime, celeb gossiper Perez Hilton shrieks, "Hilaria Thomas' womb is filled with Alec Baldwin's offspring!" Calm down, P-Hilt. Alec's flack, Matthew Hiltzik tweeted "No comment" on Tuesday.

Emmylou Harris charged

Country star Emmylou Harris, 65, has been charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run, TMZ says, accused of fleeing after she hit a car in L.A. in October. There were no injuries.

Hilary Mantel kicks assumptions

Book-club favorite author Hilary Mantel is killin' it, yo. Her novel Bring Up the Bodies, the second in her trilogy on Tudor hunk Thomas Cromwell, won the Costa Book of the Year in 2012 for the U.K. and Ireland; the award carries a sweet little £30,000 ($47,250) soupçon. She's the first author to win both the coveted Costa and the also-drooled-after Man Booker Prize (she won twice). The Costa award was unanimous! Unfair.

LiLo blows a chance for havoc

We're disappointed in Lindsay Lohan. Rather than continue her string of way-cool fracases, swivets, and disasters, she actually showed up in L.A. court Tuesday, for a hearing about three misdemeanor charges following a summer car crash. LiLo's new court date is March 18. Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner, who's been up and down the legal merry-go-round with LiLo, shook her head when she saw the star in her courtroom. But Sautner won't preside at the new court date; she retires, we bet with relief, on March 1.

Opportunity for a joke here . . .

Who says machines can't be celebs? Raise the roof (high) for NASA/JPL's little Mars rover Opportunity! Meant to serve three months, it completed nine years on Mars on Jan. 25!

Famed food dude in Philly

Mark Bittman, New York Times kitchen god, will answer the musical question "What Is Your Food Worth?" at 7:30 p.m. on March 13, at Congregation Rodeph Shalom, 615 North Broad St.; 215-627-6747; free; RSVP required at http://whatisyourfoodworth.com.

Tidbits 'n' pieces: The biz

Two-time Academy Award® winner Barbra Streisand will sing at the Feb. 24 Oscars. Babs serenaded the statuette only once before, in '77 when she performed the love theme from A Star Is Born.   . . . The Nutcracker earned slightly more revenue for Pennsylvania Ballet this season ($2,310,000) than last ($2,176,000). The show accounts for half of the ballet's ticket income each year.     . . . The incomparable Willem Dafoe will play Satan in a Mercedes-Benz ad at the Super Bowl. . . . Justin Timberlake, 32, will perform at the Feb. 10 Grammy Awards. Justin also is teaming up with designer Tom Ford to create a line of menswear, themed after Justin's forthcoming LP, The 20/20 Experience, says the New York Daily News. . . . Adrian Grenier's HBO comedy Entourage is being adapted for the big screen. . . . CBS will kill its Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan-starring sitcom How I Met Your Mother after its ninth season next fall.

Tidbits 'n' pieces: celeb love

Rihanna tells Rolling Stone mag that dating her former attacker Chris Brown makes her happy, and "if it's a mistake, it's my mistake." She admits the pair's history isn't "the cutest puzzle in the world." . . . Two-time divorcée Melissa Gilbert, 48, has become engaged to thirtysomething's Timothy Busfield, 55. . . . Jim Nabors, 82, wed Stan Cadwallader, 64, in Seattle on Jan. 15, the Andy Griffith Show alum tells Hawaii News Now. . . . Bug star Ashley Judd, 44, and three-time Indy 500-winning race car driver Dario Franchitti, 39, have split up after 11 years of marriage, People says.

Gary Allan tops album chart

Gary Allan's Set You Free sold 106,000 units in its debut week to become the country singer's first No. 1 album on Billboard's album chart. The Lumineers' self-titled LP is at No. 2 with 50,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, while the soundtrack to Pitch Perfect stays at No. 3 with 44,000.
