The search for Sarah Majoras, the 39-year-old Lambertville, N.J., resident missing since early Saturday, appeared to come to an unfortunate end Wednesday, as Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony Kearns announced that authorities had recovered what they believed was her body in the Delaware and Raritan Canal.
The body, recovered about 4:50 p.m., matched the description of Majoras, Kearns said. A positive identification was pending, he said. He added that Majoras' family had been notified.
The body was turned over to the county medical examiner for an autopsy, Kearns said.
Kearns said there was no evidence of foul play but added, "We will continue to work with our detectives to figure out what did occur." He asked anyone with any information to call Lambertville police at 609-397-3132.
