An accidental shooting near the Gloucester County Superior Court building wounded a detective and led to the lockdown of the nearby Woodbury High School, authorities said.
It was the second accidental shooting of a law enforcement officer today.
A spokesman for the Gloucester Co. Prosecutors office said the officer's service weapon discharged about 1:30 p.m. in the parking area at the Hunter Street complex.
The detective's injuries are not considered life-threatening, said spokesman Bernie Weisenfeld, and he has been taken to Underwood-Memorial Hospital in Woodbury for treatment. The officer was not identified "because of the nature the officer's assignment," Wiesenfeld said.
