A Montgomery County teenager was arrested today and charged in killing a West Norriton man on Monday during a botched gunpoint robbery in Norristown, authorities said.

Rontrey Wilkins, 18, of Norristown, admitted to detectives that he had participated in the slaying of Andrew Polen, 25, authorities said. Police are searching for two additional males who were present with Wilkins during the robbery.

Detectives searched Wilkins' Buttonwood Street residence and recovered a .32 caliber Walther PPK pistol, a 12 gauge Remington Model 870 shotgun, assorted ammunition and 100 packets of suspected heroin, said Risa Vetri Ferman, the county District Attorney.

Polen, the victim, was a passenger in a car driven by a friend on the 1200 block of Lafayette Street in Norristown Borough. Shortly before 8 p.m., a gunman fired three rounds at the vehicle. Polen was hit in the chest. The friend drove to Mercy Suburban Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Vetri Ferman said.

Wilkins was charged with murder, robbery, and related offenses and remanded to the Montgomery County jail without bail. A preliminary hearing date is set for February 27.
