Islanders cruise to win over Devils

John Tavares scored three goals and assisted on another Saturday night to lead the host New York Islanders to a 5-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Tavares, who notched his fourth career hat trick, has 20 points in 14 games. Matt Moulson finished with four points.

Leafs blank Senators

Ben Scrivens stopped 34 shots for his first career shutout, and the host Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the injury-ravaged Ottawa Senators, 3-0.

Scrivens was making his second straight start since James Reimer injured a knee in Monday night's 5-2 win over the Flyers.

Elsewhere: Benoit Pouliot scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, lifting the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 6-5 victory over the host Florida Panthers. . . . Martin Hanzal had two goals and an assist, and the host Phoenix Coyotes won for the third time in four games with a 5-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. . . . Nick Bonino and Corey Perry scored in the shootout to give the Anaheim Ducks a 3-2 win over the host Nashville Predators. The win was Anaheim's fourth straight.


The Detroit Red Wings put forward Johan Franzen on injured reserve and removed goaltender Jonas Gustavsson from IR and assigned him to Grand Rapids of the AHL.
