"This draft is a little bit different than previous drafts," said Mike Mayock, an NFL Network analyst who will broadcast from the combine.
"I think we probably have better depth than we've had in the last 10 years. I'm really impressed with our depth. Now the top end of the draft, the top 10 picks, I don't see the difference-makers like we've had the last several years."
That may be a bad sign for the Eagles, who have the No. 4 overall pick. Eagles coach Chip Kelly and general manager Howie Roseman will be present at the combine and have the chance for in-person interviews with the prospects in addition to evaluating.
Some of the players that will come through are local prospects, including Florida defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd (George Washington High School) and Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib (Malvern Prep). Both are among the top players at their position.
This is the last major gathering of draft prospects before the draft that takes place April 25 to 27.
The Kansas City Chiefs, coached by former Eagles head coach Andy Reid, have the first overall pick in the draft for the first time in franchise history, and they need a quarterback.
But with no obvious top quarterback this year, the Chiefs may be forced to look at other positions as well.
"We have the first pick in the first round. We all know there is some pressure involved in that," said general manager John Dorsey. "But you make the right pick by choosing the best player."
