American Airlines’ corporate name to change in merger

Posted: February 23, 2013

The name of American Airlines' parent company, AMR Corp., will disappear when the US Airways-American Airlines $11 billion merger closes sometime in the third quarter.

The combined airline will be called American Airlines Group Inc., and will be based in Fort Worth, Tex., according to a regulatory filing.

The federal judge overseeing American's bankruptcy has scheduled a hearing March 27 to consider the proposed merger.    - Linda Loyd
