When Pennridge junior Scott Parker won his first district championship Saturday, there was not much emotion.

Parker struggled to the top of the podium to accept honors as the PIAA District 1 Class AAA East champion at 113 pounds and stared stoically toward the cameras capturing his moment.

While he understands the accomplishment after falling in the finals last year, he realizes this is only a stepping-stone to his ultimate goal.

"It feels good, but my main goal is a state title," said Parker, one of 14 district East champions crowned Saturday at Hatboro-Horsham. "I'm not really satisfied yet."

Pennridge was one of four schools with multiple winners. In addition to Parker, Ben Ross won at 120 pounds.

Council Rock North had champions John Dutrow (138) and Tyler Callender (220). North Penn, which won the overall tournament, had winners in Jeff Reimel at 152 and Alex Price at 182.

Dominic Rigous (170) and P.J. Steinmetz (195) captured titles for Central Bucks South.

Parker, who ended up winning his region and finishing fourth in the state last year at 106 pounds, picked up another accomplishment in his already illustrious career, but he is just trying to stay focused on his way to states.

"I'll focus on one match at a time at regionals and, once I get to states, take care of business," Parker said.

Parker, 30-0 with 16 falls this season, earned the district championship with a 2-0 decision against Council Rock South's Dan Martoccio. Parker earned the two points on a takedown in the first period.

"I try to build off every match," said Parker, who had defeated Martoccio twice last season. "I keep getting better every match. I try to work new things. I haven't gotten a takedown on him before. That was the first time."

One of the things Parker worked on was finishing his shots, which he did with that decisive takedown.

"Scott, before, had trouble finishing a single on him," Pennridge coach Dan Goetter said. "Today, we focused to make sure he could finish all his shots this year and it worked well today. He finished it on the first go."
