Phillies women's clinic tix on sale Tues.

Twice a season, the Phillies offer women an intensive daylong course in being a more knowledgeable baseball fan.

Tickets go on sale by phone at 9 a.m. Tuesday to this season's first Baseball 101 Clinic & Luncheon for Women, which will be held May 30.

Guess it's too long to include everything in the title, because then it would be: "Baseball 101 Clinic & Luncheon & Pre-Game Party & Red Sox Game."

It starts with coaches covering the basics about how to play.

"We went in the batting cages. They showed us how to pitch. How to do ground balls," Jessica Ordille of Hammonton, N.J., said last spring. "It was fun."

Coaches, plus a player and a broadcaster will answer all sorts of questions.

The pre-game party, hosted by the Phanatic and 98.1 WOGL's Valerie Knight and Frank Lewis, will be followed by the 7:05 p.m. Boston game.

By purchasing extra game tickets, attendees will be able to sit with a friend or spouse, according to spokeswoman Deanna Sabec.

Proceeds from the $200 tickets benefit Phillies charities. Each of the first 13 such events sold out, raising about $230,000 for Phillies charities.

The number to call for tickets is 215-463-1000.

Limit two per transaction.

A second clinic will be held in August.
