Award-winning author William Giraldi is visiting Germantown Academy in Fort Washington through Thursday to work with students during his stay as the school's writer-in-residence.

Giraldi, an editor of the AGNI journal at Boston University, is a frequent contributor to publications including the New York Times Book Review and won the Pushchart Prize in 2010 for "Freaky Beasts," an essay on amateur bodybuilding. His first novel, Busy Monsters, chronicles a writer's efforts to win back his ex-fiance.

During his visit, which began on Monday, Giraldi is coaching students in English classes and at lunchtime in the school's writing center.

Giraldi will read from his work during a book signing at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the school's Honickman Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. The school is located at 340 Morris Rd., Fort Washington. For information email robynne.graffam@germantownacademy.org.
