Ooops: Bank robbery suspect also applied for loan

Posted: March 14, 2013

An alert Delaware County teller noticed the suspect in a number of bank robberies was the same man who had applied for a loan at their institution.

Jermaine Coleman, 30, of the 5800 block of Warrington Ave., Philadelphia, is wanted for allegedly robbing three local banks between March 7 and March 11, police said.

"He is considered armed and dangerous," said Michael Chitwood, Upper Darby's superintendent of police.

Coleman handed over notes during the robbery that threatened to kill employees and blow up the banks, Chitwood added.

Chitwood did not name the bank where Coleman applied for a loan. However, the tip lead police to identify Coleman as the suspect in the other robberies, he said.

Coleman was released from prison in December and was out on parole. He was last seen driving a late model Dodge Charger with Florida tags that may possibly be a rental car, Chitwood said.
