Glouco man's bid for reconsideration declined

Posted: March 20, 2013

The New Jersey Supreme Court has declined to reconsider a Waterford man's conviction and prison sentence for assault, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said Monday.

In his petition, Ronald J. Hess, 51, said that at his trial he was not conclusively identified as the assailant. The Appellate Division of Superior Court rejected that claim last year.

Hess was sentenced to eight years after a 2008 criminal trial that found him guilty of beating a man with a hammer and stabbing him in November 2005. The victim, Kenneth Jackson, a coworker of Hess' former wife, was dining with her at Geet's Diner in Williamstown. - David O'Reilly
