Mr. McKinley was a member of the Plymouth Whitemarsh Rotary Club from 1971 to 1991. The club honored him with its Plymouth Whitemarsh Man of the Year Award in the 1980s.

In Broomall, he was a coach for the Larchmont Little League in the late 1960s, leader of Cub Scout Pack 122 of Newtown Square in the late 1960s, and president of the Worrall Elementary School PTA.

He married the former Janet Hartzell on Sept. 11, 1954. The two met in high school.

"I could say his sentences before he finished them," she said.
