New Jersey's unemployment rate fell in February to 9.3 percent from 9.5 percent, the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported today.
Payrolls expanded by 12,900, with 7,100 private sector jobs and 5,800 jobs in government. In the private sector, jobs were gained in education and health, information, hospitality and leisure, and professional and business services.
There were declines in trade and transportation, financial activities, construction and manufacturing. January's preliminary results were revised downward. Instead of adding 2,600 jobs in January, the state's payrolls declined by 2,200 jobs.
