Track and Field Athletes to Watch

Boys

Anthony Averett, senior, Woodbury. This Alabama football recruit is a two-time Meet of Champions long-jump winner who unleashed a leap of 25 feet, 21/2 inches at last year's Woodbury Relays.

Josh Awotunde, senior, Delsea. He's a South Carolina recruit who holds the Delsea record in the discus with 186 feet, 9 inches.

Will Cioffi, senior, Pitman. Cioffi is a Penn recruit who won the Group 1 state title last year in the discus.

Jacob Clark, senior, Pleasantville. This indoor Group 2 state champion in the 800 and 1,600 meters teams with twin Isaac to form a dynamic middle-distance duo.

Nick Costello, senior, Delsea. He's a Colorado State recruit who has personal-best times of 9 minutes, 19.19 seconds in the 3,200 meters and 4:24.50 in the 1,600.

Jimmy Daniels, senior, Sterling. This St. Joseph recruit won the Group 2 indoor state title in the 3,200 meters.

Braheme Days Jr., senior, Bridgeton. A UCLA recruit, Days is a two-time indoor national champion in the shot put and won the event at last year's Penn Relays with a throw of 68-81/2.

Daniel Jefferson, senior, Oakcrest. Jefferson won the Meet of Champions in the high jump last year with a leap of 6-6.

Shawn Wilson, senior, Cherokee. This Syracuse-bound distance star won the Group 4 state title in cross-country at Holmdel Park in November with a time of 15:39.37, the second-fastest time by a South Jersey runner.

Girls

Emily Carson, senior, Haddonfield. This Notre Dame recruit won the Group 2 state title outdoors in the long jump last spring and the Group 2 state title indoors in the 55 meters in the winter.

Faleesha Dowe, junior, Penns Grove. She won the Group 1 state title in the 400 and was second in the 200 last spring.

Bridget Flynn, junior, Ocean City. Flynn won the Non-Public A state title in the 1,600 last year at Holy Spirit.

Courtney Foster, senior, Cherokee. She was second in the indoor Meet of Champions 400.

Meghan Malloy, senior, Haddonfield. This James Madison recruit has personal bests of 5:14.58 in the 1,600 and 11:05.45 in the 3,200.

Natalia Ocasio, senior, Lenape. Ocasio, a High Point (N.C.) recruit, has a personal best of 4:56.01 in the 1,600.

Jess Woodard, senior, Cherokee. She's an Oklahoma recruit who won the New Balance outdoor national title in the shot put with a throw of 45-41/4 last June and is a two-time Meet of Champions winner in the discus with a personal best of 151-10.

Cidae'a Woods, junior, Winslow Township. She won the AAU junior national title in the long jump last summer with a leap of 19-3.
