Thurs. S.J. girls: GCIT triumphs on Favinger homer

GCIT's Erynn Sobieski outdueled Williamstown's Tiarra Sanabria on Thursday to earn a 1-0 win in a Tri-County Royal softball game.

Sobieski went the distance, giving up two hits and a walk in seven innings. She struck out 11.

Taylor Favinger crushed a first-inning home run for the game's only run.

Sanabria, a University of Louisville recruit, gave up only three hits and struck out 13 in seven innings.

Olympic American. Michelle Sachais tossed seven strong innings, allowing three runs on four hits with six strikeouts, to lead Cherry Hill East to a 5-3 victory against visiting Cherokee.

In other Olympic American play, Eastern's Madison Tiernan picked her 100th hit in a 14-3 win at Lenape.

Tiernan went 3 for 4 with four stolen bases, giving the senior 95 steals for her career.

Jax Buckley, who doubled, knocked in six of Eastern's runs.

Burlington County Patriot. Bordentown's Allyson Potts limited host Delran to three hits en route to a 4-0 win.

Tri-County Diamond. Deptford's Jenna Gayeski gave up two runs and struck out seven in seven innings and had a pair of doubles and RBIs at the plate in an 8-2 home win against Schalick.

Colonial. Haddon Heights' Mattie McCleery went 4 for 4 with a double and a home run and picked up her 100th hit in a 17-7 home victory against Sterling.

Katey Griese gave up one hit and struck out six over four innings in Haddon Township's 16-0 win against visiting Lindenwold.

West Deptford's Marissa Linquist went 3 for 4 with a double and a home run in addition to four scoreless innings in a 10-0 home win against Haddonfield.

Cape-Atlantic American. Gab Guarracino lined a walk-off single to right field, scoring Jillian Bruno and sending Mainland to a 2-1 win over visiting Holy Spirit.

Nonleague. Northern Burlington's Meghin Stanton tossed a two-hit shutout, allowing one walk and striking out eight, in a 3-0 win against visiting Rancocas Valley.

Dylan Jarvis went 4 for 4 with four RBIs, four runs, and her second home run of the season in host Paul VI's 18-0 win against Cherry Hill West.

Kayla Rafferty had three doubles in Cinnaminson's 13-3 home win against Pemberton.

Girls' Lacrosse

Nicole Rohm scored six goals to help Maple Shade storm back to earn a 13-12 win at New Egypt in a Burlington County Freedom match.

New Egypt took the lead with a little less than five minutes left, but Rohm tied the game a minute later and Samantha Reader scored the winner with three minutes remaining.

Olympic American. Rena Carabases and Nicole Donnelly each scored three times for Lenape, which held on for a 10-9 victory at Cherokee.

Nonleague. Holy Cross' Ana Baranoski struck for seven goals in a 13-10 win at Cinnaminson.

Caroline Shinske scored four times and Caroline Farley added three in Shawnee's 16-0 rout at Washington Township.
