The boards of Catholic Health East and Trinity Health, which are planning to complete a merger of the two health systems next month, named Judith Persichilli interim chief executive of the combined entity.

Persichilli has been president of CEO of Catholic Health East, which is based in Newtown Square, since May 2010.

Larry Warren, interim chief executive officer of Trinity Health, was named interim chief operating officer of the combined health system, which is expected to have more than $13.3 billion in revenue.

John R. Swedish, former president and chief executive of Trinity, was slated to become CEO of the merged nonprofit, but Swedish left Trinity in February to become CEO of WellPoint Inc. The systems announced a preliminary agreement in October and reached a definitive deal in January. A national search for a permanent CEO is planned.
