BERNARD HOPKINS will defend his light-heavyweight title in the summer against Karo Murat, of Germany.
Hopkins tweeted the news on Wednesday.
The bout, which likely will be held in Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, or Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., will be a mandatory defense for Hopkins and will be held in July or August.
Golden Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer confirmed the bout.
"History is marching on," Schaefer told ESPN.com. "Bernard is up for the challenge. Karo Murat is 29, young enough to be Bernard's son. He's a good fighter and he has been waiting for this kind of opportunity."
