Sat. S.J. boys and girls: Kingsway captures Lang

The Kingsway baseball team cruised in a pair of games Saturday to win the Joe Lang Tournament at Pitman.

After shutting out Gateway, 9-0, Kingsway topped host Pitman, 8-4, behind a 4-for-4 performance by Ronnie Ippolite, who was named the tournament's MVP.

Ippolite doubled, knocked in two runs, and scored one.

Phil Krug Tournament. After beating Pope John Paul II, 10-4, Moorestown defeated host Millburn in the tournament final, 5-3.

Moorestown's Tyler Kaiser delivered the decisive blow against Millburn, a bases-clearing double in the fourth inning.

Scott Zimmer picked up the win in the final. He allowed three runs on two hits and struck out 10 to earn tournament MVP honors.

Papa Bear Tournament. Host Delran beat Princeton, 7-4, on Justin McFadden's three-run homer in the eighth inning, and will play in the tournament final Sunday.

Pop McKenna Classic. Audubon's Zak Chiaradia hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning that proved to be the difference in a 9-7 semifinal win against Glassboro at West Deptford.

Softball

Pitman defended its turf, beating Riverside and Deptford to win the Pitman Tournament.

Meghan Brown's three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs paved the way to Pitman's 11-6 victory in the final against Deptford. Nicole Lindner had four hits and four RBIs for Pitman.

Karlie Crispin went 2 for 3 with two runs and a triple to help propel Pitman to a 6-5 semifinal win against Riverside in eight innings.

Deptford's Kelli White smashed a two-run double as a part of a three-run sixth inning to beat Gateway, 3-2, in the semifinals.
