Police are seeking a Delaware County mother who has been missing since Friday.

Melissa Rodriguez, 30, of Collingdale, had planned to travel to visit friends in Newark, N.J., for the weekend, police said, but never showed up.

Her husband, Jose Luis Rodriguez, called police Tuesday after she did not return a text he had sent. On Monday she did not show up for a new job and failed to pick up their two girls, ages 7 and 11, from school.

"It is an ongoing and active investigation to find her," said Collingdale Police Chief Robert Adams.

Jose Rodriguez told police his wife takes public transportation to Newark when she visits friends. The friends confirmed that she was expected but that they never received a call to pick her up, according to police. Her car is still parked at the Collingdale home.

The couple had been separated, but Jose Rodriguez recently moved back into the house.

Melissa Rodriguez is Hispanic, 5-foot-5, and weighs about 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a yellow flowered dress.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Collingdale police at 610-891-4700 or county detectives at 610-891-4700.
