Mercyhurst hit the post twice in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter Sunday, allowing Le Moyne to hold on and capture the NCAA Division II men's lacrosse title, 11-10, at Lincoln Financial Field.

Le Moyne goalie Jeff White, the game's outstanding player, recorded 10 of his 13 saves in the second half. Nate Frechette had a game-high three goals and Tyler Prevost added a goal and two assists. James Chayka scored twice and assisted on two others to lead Mercyhurst (18-1).

It is the first title for LeMoyne (18-2) since 2007.

Mercyhurst's Brian Scheetz fired a shot off the post with 1 minute, 51 seconds left and Jake McAndrew hit the goal's top right post with 44 seconds remaining.

"I was just thinking: Thank God the ball didn't go in the net," White said. "That's about it."

Stevenson wins D-III crown

Mark Panneton's five goals, including three in the first half, led Stevenson past Rochester Institute of Technology, 16-14, in the Division III championship game at the Linc.

The sophomore attack was voted the game's outstanding player as he scored on all but one of his six shots.

Nick Rossi added two goals and two assists. Brent Hiken, a junior midfielder, won 17 of his 27 face-offs. Dimitri Peceunes recorded 15 saves, including a key stop with 41 seconds left as the Mustangs (22-2) played down two players.

This was the Maryland school's first national title.

RIT's Kyle Aquin scored seven goals, tying a championship game record. Eddie Kiesa added four assists and scored twice. Pat Johnston recorded 11 saves for RIT (19-3).
