Steve Sonneborn told his softball players before Wednesday afternoon's game to bring a change of clothes. In case of a season-ending loss, the St. Basil coach thought, he could collect their uniforms.

"We're not turning them in this early," starting pitcher Nicole Eberhard told her teammates.

The sophomore righthander supported her declaration by throwing her first career no-hitter, powering the Panthers past Lower Moreland, 9-0, in the PIAA District 1 Class AA semifinals at Upper Dublin.

Eberhard struck out nine and walked just two, and slapped a two-run double to left in the third inning. Afterward, Sonneborn told her how proud he was of her.

Abby Carter, Kaitlyn Brogan, Lauren Brogan, Kiera Peters, and Lindsay Joyce each had two hits. Myranda Gormley added an RBI triple.

The team showed up for the game with backpacks, Sonneborn said.

"But I'm not sure if there were uniforms in there," the coach said with a laugh.

In the other semifinal, Emma Lewis went 2 for 4 and hit a game-winning single to lift Christopher Dock over Springfield (Montco), 7-6, at Hatboro-Horsham.

District 12. Gina Massaro and Laura Christine combined for a six-inning no-hitter, and Conwell-Egan blanked Philadelphia Academy Charter, 11-0, in the Class AA title game.

Erica Ragazzone struck out four in a four-inning no-hitter as St. Hubert eased past visiting Girls High, 16-0, in the Class AAAA final. She also went 4 for 4 with six RBIs.

Shannon Quinn scored a minute into overtime to lift Radnor over Archbishop Carroll, 12-11, in the first round of the PIAA tournament at Neumann University.

Quinn scored a team-high four goals and added an assist. Sara Curley had two goals and two assists. Grace Collins secured the win with nine saves.

Katie Melvin scored four of her five goals in the second half as Harriton topped Conestoga, 10-7, at West Chester East.
