"We were more than fired up," senior third baseman Christina Bascara said. "Every day, we would come out ready to go and then find out it was cancelled.
"It's tough. You know you have to focus more each and every time. . . . We couldn't complain. This team [Henderson] drove once or twice all the way down just to find out it was cancelled."
Ranked second in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, the Falcons (18-3) went off for 12 hits and took advantage of miscues by the Warriors (19-3) in the field, getting five runs in the second inning and tacking on single tallies in the third, fourth, and fifth.
Pennsbury was led by freshman Fiona Link, who had three hits and an RBI and scored two runs.
The Warriors, ranked eighth, did not go down easily, however, loading the bases in the fourth inning with only one out. They scored one run and had runners at the corners before a 2-6-2 double play from catcher Dani Litwin to shortstop Mackenzie Obert back to Litwin ended the rally.
"That gave us so much more energy just to continue to come out and pound," senior pitcher Val Buehler said. "It could have been such a big inning for them, and to end it so abruptly with only one run on the board with the bases loaded, it was huge."
No longer waiting, Pennsbury will play Central Bucks East in the district semifinals Thursday.
