La Salle entered Thursday afternoon's baseball game against Frankford with a target on its back, having won its last eight games, and senior Tom Cockill ensured that streak would be extended.

Cockill mowed through Frankford's lineup as he tossed a complete-game gem to blank the Pioneers, 8-0, in the PIAA District 12 Class AAAA championship game at Ashburn Field.

The lefthander scattered six hits, allowed no walks, and struck out one to record the shutout.

Senior Joe Picard went 2 for 3, including a double, and drove in two runs. Brad Schneider also drove in two while going 2 for 2 at the plate.

In another game at Ashburn Field, Charlie Jerla went 3 for 4 and scored twice as Neumann-Goretti defeated Prep Charter, 5-2, for the Districts 1-12 Class AA Sub-Region championship.

Joe Kinee struck out six batters over 61/3 innings.

Bonner-Prendergast's Tom Crumlish and Frank Saviski each collected three hits as the Friars topped Franklin Towne Charter, 5-0, in the District 12 Class AAA championship game at La Salle High School.

Senior righthander Pat Vanderslice struck out six and allowed just one hit over four innings

This was the third District 12 championship for Bonner-Prendergast in the last four years.
