Under-15 girls' squad headed to nationals

Posted: June 07, 2013

After a slate of tournaments that began last August, a group of local girls will look to complete the ultimate season.

The West Chester United Soccer Club's under-15 girls' team earned a spot in the President's Cup national championships when they defeated Middlesex, Mass., 1-0, in the Region 1 championship tournament on Memorial Day weekend in Manchester, N.H.

The national tournament will be held July 10-14 in Auburndale, Fla.

The team's 17 girls represent nine high schools in the West Chester area.

The Eagles, coached by Patrick McKenna, have won three other tournaments in the past year: the West Chester Classic Tournament in August, the Capitol Fall Classic championship in Richmond, Va. in October; and the President's Cup Challenge in May in Allentown.
