"The key thing there was my team was perfect, as well. It wasn't just me. I couldn't have done it by myself," Quense said.
"We came alive with the bats, which we need to, and we played flawless defense," she added. "What more could you ask for?"
"It's not just the pitcher's day."
The Fordham-bound senior was unfazed by the rain, even as it fell harder in the later innings. She joked afterward that she wasn't sure if her jersey was damp from the weather or her sweat.
"No one works harder than Lauren Quense," Neshaminy coach Dave Chichilitti said. "All her success is a tribute to the hard work and the hours that she puts in."
The Redskins (22-2) jumped on the Blazers (20-8) early, scoring two runs in the first inning and three in the second.
When Quense hit a solo shot that hit the top of the fence and bounced over for a fifth-inning home run, the game was all but out of reach.
Neshaminy will face Suburban One League rival North Penn on Monday in the semifinals. The Redskins bested the Maidens in their only meeting this season, 2-0.
Both Neshaminy and North Penn have shut out their two opponents in the state tournament, outscoring teams by 9-0 and 12-0, respectively.
"We throw out what we did the first time," Chichilitti said. "Let's not be overconfident. Let's make sure that we've let that game go, and forget about that game and start fresh."
