Pennsbury loses in PIAA softball semifinals

Posted: June 12, 2013

The recently potent Pennsbury offense ground to a halt Tuesday in the PIAA Class AAAA softball semifinals.

The Falcons, who had scored 27 runs in their first two state-tournament games, were shut down in a 3-1 loss to Canon McMillan at Carlisle.

Christina Bascara drove in the Falcons' lone run with a fourth-inning single. Pennsbury had only seven hits off Alayna Astuto, who struck out three and walked one.

Abby McCartney knocked in all three of the Macs' runs, with an RBI double in the first inning and a two-run homer in the sixth.

Canon McMillan advances to face Neshaminy in the final at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Penn State's Nittany Lion Softball Park.
