Flagfest continues at the Betsy Ross House with a Flag Day celebration Friday, and tomorrow is Stars and Stripes Saturday.

Friday will feature craft activities for kids from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The official City of Philadelphia Flag Day ceremony will be held at noon, and from noon to 2 George Washington will have a meet and greet. Guests can also experience Continental Army interactive drills and other activities.

The fun continues Saturday. Families can enjoy Professor Horn's Punch and Judy puppet show, Bag Lady Theatre, an aerial circus, carnival games, and the Give & Take Jugglers. Guests can also meet Charles Weisgerber, founder of the Betsy Ross House.

Kitchen Science at Franklin Institute

On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. step into the chilly world of a high-tech kitchen and learn the fun scientific side of food at the Franklin Institute's monthly Kitchen Science series.

In hands-on activities, educators will teach kids about molecular gastronomy by cooking with cold temperatures, and guests can sample the frozen goodies. Executive chefs from Frog Commissary will join in on the fun from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and have special desserts.


Kitchen Science, 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Franklin Institute in the Jordan Lobby near Franklin Foodworks, 222 N. 20th St. Institute hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. 'Cats' at Wolf Performing Arts Center

Catch the Broadway show Cats this weekend at St. Joseph's University's Bluett Theater.

The musical by Andre Lloyd Webber, based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, will feature performances of Broadway songs such as "Memory," "Rum Tum Tugger" and more. This musical adaptation is directed and choreographed by Tim Popp and Betsy Wolf Regn. Musical direction is by Dave Snyder. The show is appropriate for Grades 4 to 12.


"Cats," 7:30 Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's University's Bluett Theater at N. 56th St. and Overbrook Ave. Tickets are $12 to $18. For information and to purchase tickets go to www.wolfperformingartscenter.org.
