Actor-activist Angelina Jolie has been making headlines for her double mastectomy, but her other passion, international diplomacy, came to the fore Thursday when she visited a Jordanian camp for refugees fleeing the civil unrest in Syria.

"I appeal to the world leaders - please, set aside your differences, unite to end the violence, and make diplomacy succeed," Jolie said, reminding reporters that June 20 was the U.N.'s World Refugee Day.

"The lives of millions of people are in your hands."
