A taxi driver was shot in the hand by a passenger during a robbery Thursday night in West Philadelphia, police said.
The Freedom Taxi driver picked up a man at 48th Street and Baltimore Avenue around 10 p.m., police said. When the driver stopped in the 200 block of South Farragut Street, the passenger pulled out a gun and announced a robbery.
The passenger shot the driver in the right thumb, took his mobile phone and car keys, and ran off, police said. The taxi driver was reported in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. - Robert Moran
