Pauline Gerth Schwoeri, 98, president of the ladies auxiliary at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden in the late 1950s and early 1960s, died on Saturday, June 22, at Sweetgrass Court, a memory care retirement community in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

Born in Camden, she was a legal secretary for a Camden firm in the 1930s and 1940s. After her legal career, "she was a homemaker for the rest of her life," son Lawrence W. Jr. said Thursday.

She was a volunteer for Christ the King Parish in Haddonfield, he said, taking care of preparations for Mass from the 1950s into the 1970s.

Besides her son, Mrs. Schwoeri is survived by two grandchildren. Her husband, Lawrence W. Sr., died in 1992.

Services were Thursday, June 27.
