In other local-news news, former NBC10 favorite Aditi Roy was named a Los Angeles-based correspondent for ABC News. Roy was in LA in 2011 and 2012 working in NBC's bureau. Some of us speculated that was Roy's audition for the big time - turns out to we were correct. Roy left Philly back in February.
Frankford High grad and New Orleans Saint Jahri Evans married love Takia Kearse at the One and Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas this weekend. About 100 guests attended the three-day affair, with a reception menu that included braised short ribs and bourbon vanilla panacotta. Kearse sported two Mark Zunino gowns. Philly's The Wedding Planner, Gina Sole, designed and planned the event for the couple, who live in both Philly and New Orleans.
'Wore' to the core
For Delia Ephron, who co-wrote the play "Love, Loss and What I Wore" with her late, famous sister Nora Ephron, it's her raspberry-colored blouse.
That's the item of clothing that elicits the fondest memories for the writer. It's the shirt she wore when she met her husband, reminding her of a specific time and place in her life.
"If you ask women about their clothes, they tell you about their lives," Ephron said.
That's the concept behind "Wore," now playing at the Suzanne Roberts Theater, courtesy of the Philadelphia Theatre Company. The show, starring Ardmore-born Kate Flannery of "The Office," runs through July 7.
"Wore," which opened last week, premiered in Philadelphia on the first anniversary of Nora's death. Delia, who co-wrote the screenplays "You've Got Mail" and "This is My Life" with Nora, is still mourning the loss of her sister and understandably said she would not discuss her.
The Ephrons used their friends as source material for the show, asking them what clothes told the stories of their lives. "We got so many stories about boots. They give you confidence, they make you feel sexy, they have an assertiveness. They're very powerful in our identity and we didn't expect that," Ephron said. "We had no idea the power of boots."
Showtime for Meoli
Did you catch Philly-born actor Christian Meoli in Sunday night's premiere of Showtime's "Ray Donovan" starring Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight? Meoli played a member of a support group for victims of sexual abuse. The show netted the biggest ratings for the premiere of a new show on Showtime.
