Earlier story:

The driver of a car that struck two young children, their mother and another woman Saturday night in Philadelphia's Somerdale section has been charged with drunken driving, police said.

Erika Williams, 28, who lives in neighboring Crescentville, was arrested at the scene of the crash and has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault while driving under the influence, and related offenses, police said.

A 5-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were rushed to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children after being hit by Williams' 1994 Oldsmobile on the 900 block of Anchor Street just before 11 p.m., police said.

The 5-year-old sustained a severe leg injury and was listed in critical condition. The 2-year-old has a dislocated pelvis and was listed in stable condition, police said.

Police allege Williams was operating her car at a high rate of speed and lost control when she struck the four about 10:55 p.m.

The children's mother, 36, whose name was not released by police, was transferred from St. Christopher's to Temple University Hospital with minor injuries. The other victim, 33, was listed in stable condition with minor injuries at Aria Health's Frankford Campus hospital, police said.
